Giverny in October

It wasn’t on the agenda, but when we found ourselves in Paris for a few days at the end of our trip, the idea of going to Giverny turned out to be the perfect plan. It was nearing the end of the flower season but without any frost Monet’s gardens were still in spectacular bloom. The grey skies only enhanced the rich palettes of color. Absent were the lines and hordes of tourists. Except for a few groups coming through, we were able to find a quiet bench next to the water gardens to munch our lunch and fill up on inspiration for our own garden.
